It was Lisa’s turn to pick and she chose New Moon. I wasn’t offended by the first one so I thought “why not”. I won’t be too dramatic and grade it F-, so I’ll just say it’s a good solid F. To honor both Thanksgiving and Christmas, it was a cornucopia/festival of soap opera clichés with acting that came across more as constipation than conflict and yearning. If the dialogue was pulled from the book, I don’t get how it sold any copies. Unoriginal amateur drivel. This from a guy who likes romance movies perfectly well when they’re good. In short, really melodramatic self-important unoriginality. Husbands and boyfriends, if you can’t get out of it, take one for the team. After all, vengance is ours with Avatar on the horizon, even if it ends up being a dud.
